Tom Todoroff
Tom is one of the most respected acting coaches that one can come across in Los Angeles. During his career as a coach and director he already worked with many known actors and actresses such as Liam Neeson, Robert Wagner, Brendan Gleeson, Helen Hunt, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Irons – just to name a few.
This year, Tom has been invited to lecture at Harvard University in November and he is going to direct a new movie for Miramax.
But it is not only about 'Names' for Tom. It is about the craft and the human being. He coaches many up-and-coming actors as well as people, who demonstrate a serious interest and comitment to the craft and to themselves. During my own time at Tom's studio I saw many breakthroughs: small and big; personal and professional.
It's a magic journey and no one could have a better tourguide than Tom Todoroff.

The Workshop… General Information
Language: English
The workshop takes place over 2 days, approx. 6 hours a day. Locations: Theater der Zerbrochenen Fenster, Fidicinstr. 3, 10965 Berlin-Kreuzberg bzw. Monsuntheater, Friedensallee 20, 22765 Hamburg-Ottensen. The times will still be confirmed.
The workshop is designed to run in the same set-up as at the Tom Todoroff Studio in Los Angeles. Workshop participants will perform at least one scene or monologue, which has been prepared in advance and will work through the scene with Tom's direction and guidance, focussing on the principles which make up the core of Tom's teaching practice. Actors will learn things like - The Fourteen Guideposts, The Six Viewpoints, The Three tenets of Acting, and The Four Variables of Voice and Speech.
We recommend the following literature for the workshop:
"Audition" by Michael Shurtleff
"The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz
In addition to a scene you can also bring and perform a monologue or an audition that you are currently working on.
Overall, the work is all encompassing and prescriptive, based on each individual's specific needs. It is designed to help the actor shed competitive defense mechanisms, facilitating access to one's unique vulnerability, which is the cornerstone of all great acting. The rate of progress and transformation is breathtaking.
All participants will share in 2 days of insight, humor, spontaneity and surprise.
The Workshop… The Material
Each participant prepares at least one scene or monologue in english (Auditons, Cold Readings, Musical pieces are also welcome). Under LITERATURE you will find a big list of suggestions of monologues and plays.
The material you choose can be classical or modern. Shakespeare to Kane. Tom's philosophy is that working with great writing will make you a great actor. Please keep this in mind if you want to work on something that is not on the list. Please let us know if you would like to work on a scene, but have no partner- we can couple you up.

The workshop is primarily for acting students and professional actors and actresses. However, we are not refusing anybody, who is seriously interested. If you are not an acting student or professional actor – please send a short bio and a statement why you would like to take part in the workshop.

Participants: 350,- Euro
Observer: 70,- Euro/per day;120,- Euro for 2 days
Students: 12 % discount (proof required)
